It is worth noting that currently if you log in using an old account that is not an admin, WPForo knows nothing about you and won’t show any community topics to you once you are logged in, even though you could see them when you were not logged in. Also that everyone who registers  after WPForo was installed automatically becomes a member of the community. I am still looking at settings to see how that might be changed if desired, among other things. I suspect that displaying community topics to old non-admin users may require adding their usernames to the database somewhere or else deleting and re-creating the user accounts.

I did change the URLs for registration and login to the ones the rest of the website uses, partly because I was frustrated with WPForo’s forms because of the way they display error messages that disappear too quickly and also for consistency and so there are fewer forms to worry about. I found PHP code at WPForo’s support to lengthen the time the error messages appear and discovered that if you click on the error message it goes away sooner. A little CSS code could display “Close” button in the error message box so that people would know to click it to make the box go away (not a real button, but since you can click anywhere…) I will add the code to make the message boxes stick around longer anyway because there are other messages WPForo produces besides error messages and in places other than login/registration (e.g., when you submit a post there is a confirmation message).

Tried the code for lengthening the time that messages are shown. Put it under the custom plugin, “OPN WPForo Modifications.” I haven’t added an “X” button to the messages yet.
