This is a TEST website for experimental and sometimes broken things. If you want to network or learn about alternative education, please visit the production site.

Test for categories and the other fields that aren’t part of the post

At the moment (until someone changes it), this post has two assigned categories:

  •  “Childhood Education”–a child/subcategory of “Concepts in Alternative and Expanded Education” (without having the parent category explicitly assigned to this post).
  • Resources for Learning and Teaching–a parent category with no children.

Therefore, if you click on any of the following categories, this post should appear in the results on the category archive page:

  • Concepts in Alternative and Expanded Education (even though not explicitly assigned, a child category is, so it appears on the parent page as well).
  • Childhood Education.
  • Resources for Learning and Teaching–a parent category with no children.

Regarding the other fields that aren’t part of the post, the form that submits posts does not add such fields to the post because they have not been defined as custom fields for the post. They exist on the database, however, and could be retrieved. That is why on production I made the “Submit a Post” form also register the user at the same time (if not already registered), because otherwise there is no easy way to figure out who uploaded the article. Instead, it will be assigned to the default author. Even though the name shown for the author in the admin area will be the name entered by the user who submitted the article, that name does not show on the front end unless it is also the name associated with the author’s user account. If the user is not registered, the author will be “Guest User” instead.

By the way, tab is problematic inside the categories box, but that’s (yet) another issue.
